Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - 1.2b DOT | staking - 51.8% | parachains & crowdloans - 11%

Polkadot v0.9.24 has been released with a high upgrade priority, so if you’re running a node make sure to upgrade.
Coinversation won the last parachain slot auction.

🔴 🏛 Governance

Referendum 64, to reimburse certain expenses via Treasury Proposal for teams that presented at Davos, is passing with 94% in favor.
Referendum 66, to re-try Referendum 62 which failed due to a technical issue, is passing by a wide margin. This should open HRMP channels between Statemint and five parachains - 2011 (Equilibrium), 2000 (Acala), 2004 (Moonbeam), 2006 (Astar), and 2012 (Parallel).
Referendum 67, proposing to upgrade Polkadot to runtime v9230, is currently passing unanimously.
Motion 210, 211, 212, 213, and 214, to fund the organization of Polkadot Decoded events by various parachain teams, has been approved.
Motion 215 by EasyA, to execute a hackathon for students to raise awareness of the Polkadot ecosystem, has passed Council vote.
A proposal to reward community events using child-bounties is up for discussion
Moonbeam has proposed taking over the planning and delivery of Decoded NYC through on-chain governance.

Kusama Updates ₑₓₚₑcₜ cₕₐₒₛ

total supply - 12.42m KSM | staking - 47% | parachains & crowdloans - 21%

1 year into the release of Parachains on Kusama, 31 Parachains have already connected to the Relay Chain.
Tanganika won the last parachain slot auction.

Referendum 207, proposing to open an HRMP channel between Robonomics and Statemine, is currently passing by a wide margin.
Referendum 208, proposing changes to Nomination Pools, is currently passing.
Referendum 209, proposing to enact a ‘genesis WASM reset’ to the Pichiu parachain, is currently failing.
Motion 496, to update the Statemine runtime to v9230, is currently under consideration by the Kusama Council.
Bifrost is seeking feedback on a potential proposal to request KSM liquidity subsidy for their KSM staking liquidity derivative - vKSM.

OriginTrail published OriginTrail V6 and Parachain: from Turing to Metcalfe phase.
Acala’s EVM+ launch initiated as the Wormhole multi-chain bridge goes live on Karura.
Nodle released its 10-year roadmap.
Composable announced work on a NEAR <> Polkadot bridge. It also announced Confio and Interchain Foundation as Hackathon partners for Unchained Berlin.

Basilisk published an update on the launch of the BSX token. The future is to be decided by the community in a referendum.
Equilibrium integrates with Acala to bring the aUSD stablecoin to its ecosystem.

Litentry released its parachain rollout plan.
Turing launched bi-directional communication with Karura.
Phala published a new ecosystem update.

Polkadot, Kusama, and 6 other Parachains have been added to the DeepDao platform, where DAO discovery and statistics is simplified.
