Polkadot Updates
🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain
total supply - 1.1407 DOT || staking - 53.8% || parachains - 5.95% (~68m DOT)
Moonbeam won the 2nd Polkadot parachain auction and surprised its crowdloaners with a 50% increase to the rewards pool (+ 50,000,000 GLMR).
You may have heard references to ‘contextual execution to speed up parachain block times’. To understand it, we recommend reviewing Rob Habermeier's issue on the topic on Github.
🔴 🏛 Governance
A report for the first milestone of the Treasury-funded Polkadot Educational Hub for the Spanish-speaking community has been posted. The initial version of the Spanish-language Hub Educacional website referenced above is here.
Motion 128, to fund milestone 2 of the Spanish-language educational hub for Polkadot, has been passed and executed.
Referendum 43, proposing to gradually increase the maximum number of validators in the active set to 400, is currently passing with < 0.01% turnout and 99.98% in favor.
Motion 127, funding a Treasury Proposal for milestones 2 and 3 of the CryptoLab Staking Website, has been passed by the Polkadot Council and executed.

Kusama Updates ₑₓₚₑcₜ cₕₐₒₛ

total supply - 11.5mil KSM || staking - 43.4% || parachains - 20.3%
Genshiro won Kusama's 15th parachain slot auction. They were in the lead for the entirety of the Ending Period. The 16th auction is ongoing with Subsocial in the lead.
Genshiro, Picasso, Quartz, and Bit Country were all onboarded to Kusama with the latest lease period.
Two slashes occurred in eras 3025 and 3037.
🦅 🏛 Governance
Referendum 155, proposing to decrease the maximum number of validators in the active set by 150 (to a new total of 850), failed to gain approval.
Referendum 156, to upgrade Statemine to runtime v600, did not pass. Note that it was recommended by Joe Petrowski not to upgrade to this version - see post for details.
Motion 357, to provide funding for Encointer to do all pre-launch testing, was approved by the Kusama Council.
Motion 397, to fund The DotSama Experience, a virtual museum for demonstrating the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems, was approved by the Kusama Council.
Motion 399, to upgrade Picasso's chain header and Wasm, was not approved by the Kusama Council.
Motion 402, to upgrade Wasm in preparation for Genshiro’s onboarding, was approved.
Motion 404, to add Encointer as a common good parachain, was approved. It should now be up for public vote as a referendum at the next launch period (in ~ 3 days)
CryptoLab has posted a report on their progress on the Treasury-funded CryptoLab Staking Website.
There has been an active discussion on this Polkassembly post on the disparity of minimum staking requirements for validators getting into the active set.
⛓ Connected Parachains, dApps, and others
projects connected to the DOT and KSM relay chains
OriginTrail to launch on Acala, bringing its Decentralized Knowledge Graph to Acala’s developer ecosystem.
Altair has announced a partnership with KILT to enable its users to gain control of their digital identities on Altair.
The Bit Country Pioneer blockchain on Kusama has passed the security audit by SlowMist Team.
Connext Network (which enables sending value and calling contracts across Ethereum-compatible chains and L2s) will be integrating Moonriver into its L2 interoperability protocol.
SubQuery to launch on Acala’s EVM+.
Composable Labs announced that it is developing an anonymity protocol on Picasso called Whirlpool Cash, which also has an added yield earning opportunity that isn’t available on other anonymity protocols.
Composable Labs also announced Centauri, a bridge linking Cosmos’ inter-Blockchain Communication protocol (IBC) with its Kusama parachain, Picasso.
SubQuery released a detailed data analysis of the Polkadot crowdloans + auctions.
KILT introduced two new additions to its ecosystem: the Sporran browser extension—the wallet for KILT tokens and credentials—and Stakeboard, the staking platform for KILT.
The 2nd cycle of Zenlink’s Initial Yield Offering has started. The rules for the 2nd cycle were adjusted: there are some differences in the end-time calculations for trading mining, liquidity mining, staking, and invite-to-earn activities.

Phala Network became a new member of BerChain—a member-led nonprofit association, organizing, promoting, and uniting the thriving blockchain community in Berlin. KILT is also one of the members of this community.
Parallel Finance partners with Gauntlet for Dynamic Risk Management on Polkadot Ecosystem. Gauntlet is a simulation platform for on-chain risk management that optimizes parameter decisions for over $45 billion in DeFi TVL across many blockchains.
Bit Country had a demo day where most of the team showcased the work they’ve been up to. There was a demo of the metaverse. You can watch the 2-mins, 30-mins (recommended), or 2-hour version.
Composable Finance, the project behind Picasso on Kusama, has released its whitepaper.
Zeitgeist announced a partnership with GraphQL API service provider, Subsquid.
The SORA Synthetic XST assets were activated with a successful referendum on the Sora Network. XSTUSD is now trading on Polkaswap.
