Polkadot Updates
🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain
total supply - ~1.27b DOT | staking - 45.6% | parachains & crowdloans - 10%
Polkadot v0.9.37 has been released with MEDIUM upgrade priority.
With the passing and enactment of Referendum 96, the Polkadot runtime has been upgraded to v9340.
Among other things, this sets the Collectives parachain as a Trusted Teleporter, and entities can join the Polkadot Alliance as Allies (although note that there is a slashable 1000 DOT deposit, and this is intended for projects/companies, not individuals).
Also, the maximum number of nominators receiving rewards per validator increased from 256 to 512. This should reduce missing rewards due to oversubscription.
XCM version 3 has been merged into the master branch of the Polkadot repo.
Parathread 2101 (Subsocial) has won the most recent parachain lease auction.
🔴 🏛 Governance
Referendum 94, seeding the Polkadot Alliance, has passed, inducting the initial members–Moonbeam, Interlay, Subscan, Kilt, Acala, Phala, and Astar.
Referendum 97, proposing to unbrick the Bitgreen, has passed.
Referendum 98, proposing to update the parathread ID in the genesis state WASM of Bittensor, is passing with 99% in favor.
Referendum 99, proposing to upgrade the Statemint and Collectives system parachain code to runtime v9360, is passing unanimously.
Motion 323, to fund milestones 2 and 3 of Yieldbay’s development of a listing platform for all DotSama liquidity pools and yield farms, is under consideration.
Motion 324, to enable pre-checking for runtime upgrade on parachains, is under consideration.
Motion 325, to fund the Polkadot Hackathon Global Series 2023, is under consideration.
Motion 326, to fund an experimental analysis on the use of candle auctions on Polkadot Network, is under consideration.
Wei Tang has posted a potential Treasury Proposal for the Polkadot Treasury to provide funding to the Matrix.org Foundation.
Kusama Updates ₑₓₚₑcₜ cₕₐₒₛ
🦅 ⭕️ Relay Chain
total supply - ~13.15m KSM | staking - 46.7% | parachains & crowdloans - 2%
Bittensor Kusama has won the most recent parachain lease auction.
🦅 🏛 Governance
Referendum 72 on the Root track is proposing to schedule 57 more auctions throughout 2023. Note that this was originally filed as Referendum 71, but it was noted that due to an issue with Scheduler track, it would not execute.
Fast-unstake is now available on Kusama. This allows instant unstaking if you have not participated in staking in the last 28 eras.
Referendum 56, enabling pre-checking of parachain runtimes by validators, has been confirmed.
Referendum 67, proposing to fund OpenGov referendum audits, is now being decided and currently 98.5% are in favor.
There are now 16 Referenda available to vote on via the new OpenGov mechanism.
